DAYT®IP’s are companions who quietly keep tabs on all those good memories you never want to forget.
Most backpacks are shit, built to last a season or two using trash material that breaks down, not in. they tend to tear well before their time. I, like many, chose to acquire these things on a seasonal basis. A new bag for the school year. A new one for a backpacking trip. And even a new one just because I didn’t like the old one. they were always replaceable…
This changed for me after digging up an old bag my dad used for travel in his young years. it was a gem from a lost time. A time where longevity was favoured over fashion and items stayed in rotation season after season because they were built for it. This bag had it all. Heavy nylon, simple straps, metal hardware, and a smell that only comes from aged nylon 🧀🧀. I loved it dearly. I was absolutely shattered when oneday he told me he gotten rid of it.
fast forward a few years and another bag got me. This time it was one carried by my granddad and fatefully left behind in our closet when he headed back to NZ. This one was a fucking beauty. All red. full nylon body. Zero pockets aside from the main compartment that was accessed via a two pull zipper that was hidden by a simple storm flap. The straps: old seatbelts. No bullshit. Just a pack built at the peak of 80’s minimalism. I came to find out he actually worked for the company that built it which made it even more special. This bag became the seed for the DAYT®IP bags.
The DAYT®IP’s are more than seasonal luggage used then tossed at the slightest sign of wear. No these things are built for the long haul in a 3x hand-me-down sort of way. They’ve been built on the same ethos as that early pack from my granddad: built simple and strong to last long.
